Explorations - The Lab

Some more experiments I did in my design journey till now

Everything about Sargalayya is fascinating. The idea of all crafts being promoted under one roof is simply amazing. But what was fascinating for me the most is the traditional colors, orange, red,  the kathakali and theyyam, the folk art of Malabar Region of Kerala (North Kerala) depicted through paintings and masks and even wooden carvings. I have depicted the same as a logo for Sargaalaya, where through the eyes of theyyam, various craft's are practiced under one roof which the face painting around the eye justifies.

A Collage on the Journey of LGBTQIA+ Rights Through the Industrial Revolutions

This collage explores the complex and evolving journey of the LGBTQIA+ community across the four Industrial Revolutions, from the dawn of industrialization to the present digital age. It seeks to visualize the struggles, triumphs, and ongoing fight for equality and acceptance, set against the backdrop of rapid technological and social change.

Themes and Perspectives:

•Visibility and Representation: The collage traces the journey from invisibility and persecution to increasing visibility and recognition.

•Technology and Social Change: It explores the complex relationship between technological advancements and social progress for the LGBTQIA+ community.

•Activism and Resistance: The collage highlights the crucial role of activism and resistance in achieving social change

•Intersectionality: While the primary focus is on LGBTQIA+ rights, the collage also acknowledges the intersectionality of identity and the interconnectedness of various social justice movements.

Design Choices:The design of the collage itself is a deliberate act of visual storytelling. The juxtaposition of images, text, and symbols creates a layered narrative that invites viewers to reflect on the past, present, and future of the LGBTQIA+ movement.

Personal Reflection: As a design student, I am deeply moved by the resilience and courage of the LGBTQIA+ community. I believe that design has the power to amplify marginalized voices and create a more inclusive and equitable world. This collage is my attempt to contribute to that goal.
